#budget suggests 'paradigm shift'. Anti-Social Democratic position. 'Small government&Big market' theory represents real republicanism #lka

A single tweet from Charitha Herath (former Secretary of the Ministry of Mass Media and Information in Sri Lanka and former Chairman of the Central Environment Authority) in response to the budget presented by the Government to Parliament on 20 November started off a conversation over Twitter that involved Dr. Asanga Welikala, lecturer at the Edinburgh Law School and Anushka Wijesinhe, the Chief Economist & Head of Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
At the request of Charitha Herath, we are publishing the exchange in full on Groundviews in order to stimulate further reflection and wider discussion amongst reader on aspects touched upon by the interlocutors, and more broadly, comments on the budget.
The full discussion can be read here, and is also embedded below.
