Groundviews is archiving every single tweet with the hashtag #PresPollSL, used by mainstream media, leading civic media and citizen journalism initiatives in Sri Lanka to post updates around the up-coming Presidential Election.
The archive is currently updated every hour, 24/7.
Given the unprecedented use of the #PresPollSL hashtag in just a week since the creation of the archive, we’ve had to re-imagine how we capture all the tweets for posterity. Accordingly, Groundviews will archive tweets week by week, and make available all the content through a web interface, Excel (XLS) and OpenDocument Format (ODF).
Note that in our experience, the archives don’t behave well using the currently available version of Excel for Apple OS X and open fine on Excel running Windows. Opening the Excel file on Apple’s Numbers for the Mac works fine too.
