The name is vital. Spell it right.

If you err, apologize and correct.

Then go on as the matter becomes

urgent, to speak poems that soar

from memory and emotion, rise

from history and experience.

Tonight let us bury doubt and fear.

Let us affirm that we will stand

together in body and soul before

the gates of hell and say get thee

behind. Stay where it is warm.

We will not be consumed.

We will live. Our children

will live. Our planet will live.
