We owe so much to Father Miller and Father Herbert for their dedicated service – so do we to the ordinary citizens who at times helped them help the community in different ways.
2. We also owe to peole like Kannan for making films to take the message around the world – to get justice to the people who suffer as well as to lessen/stop such injustice happening to others inside or outside Sri Lanka.

I am reminded of Khalil Gibran’s stanza, “The moving finger writes and having writ moves on …” We can follow events that happened and that which may continue. We can trace back in time ad infinitum to find causes and effects, but lives lost are lost for ever. When will we ever learn to pursue a peaceful way of life. The world is full of it. Though your film in telling the story of Fr Hubert through Fr Miller and the mother and it cannot bring back her son though it does seem that the film has brought closure the memory of her son will be with her till her end. War is cruel. It springs in the minds of humans. And we talk about humanity! Keep on making your etudes of people’s lives during Sri Lanka’s war years.
Your film reminds me of Bruch’s second movement of his violin concerto.

”But even during my brief stay in Sri Lanka, I was able to directly observe that government forces were responsible for civilian deaths, and that random killings of Tamil civilians by the military and the police were commonplace. All the human rights workers with whom I spoke privately affirmed that government forces systematically engaged in acts of terrorism against Tamil civilians.”
