This leads to corruption and disappearances are a byproduct. On 08 January 2015 with high hopes Lankans installed the United National Front of Good Governance (fondly called UNFGG). But the structure of impunity is still there. For example the disappearance of Prageeth is now freely discussed but no more. The mindset to protect the culprit is strong as ever. In just over a year Lankans have forgotten what UNFGG stands for!

2.Please let me remind the readers:
”the Cabinet has approved a proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera to set up an Inter-Ministerial Committee to consider all facts related to human rights for the preparation of the National Action Plan on Human Rights for the period 2017-2021” – Sri Lankan government to set up an Inter-Ministerial Committee on human rights, 13May 2016

3. As a new Mahanayake assumes office, let us not forget:
”there is no need at all to search for a place of human rights in the Buddhist tradition. Freedom is indeed the essence of Buddhism” – Buddhism and Human Rights, Phra Rajavaramuni Payutto
