Central planning is necessary for All forms of Socialist programs. Free-market dictates a minimal government. This is the real fight. Fight to minimize the size and scope of the state, to increase the space available for civil society and entrepreneurship. Investors need not have centralized favours if the economy in general is also free. Sri Lanka does not have a free-market, it desperately needs to move in that direction.

If the govt is genuinely interested in reconciliation, they would first stop trampling the ethnic minorities in the North and the Eastand elsewhere in the country.

2.While the Tamil farmers and fishermen are suffering at the hands of the army, navy, ordinary citizens and Buddhist clergy, the govt proposes to hold an elaborate conference in the East:

There is some news with pleasant surprise: news that has more potential for reconciliation than a Ministry for Reconciliation:

”A group of minor political party leaders who recently staged a demonstration outside the Opposition Leader’s Office, met with Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan yesterday.
The group had demonstrated against Sampanthan’s alleged forcible entry into a military camp in Kilinochchi last month. Sampanthan had briefed the party leaders on the incident, his office said in a statement. “Party leaders thanked the honorable opposition leader for briefing them on this issue and requested him to organise a visit for them to see the places in North and East where the Military has occupied private lands,” the statement from the Opposition Leader’s Office said.
Sampanthan had assured the politicians that a visit would be organised in the future for them to see the ground situation in both the north and east.
TNA Spokesperson and Parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran was also present at the meeting.”

Hope there will be visits in the opposite direction too >>>>> many more visits in both directions.

1.Tamils want Justice&Equality(=Fairplay) which they think will be followed naturally by reconciliation.
2.The government speaks of ”reconciliation” to get ”rewards” from international community and to dodge Fairplay and to damage the Tamil community as much as possible:
