It appears that Lalith Ganhewa has made references to one Vishwanath Laugi in his article of the publication World Music, which has been quoted by the author. It would be nice to know where Lalith obtained such information as it seems impossible to find any information about this Hindustani musician on the web. Considering that Ceylon at the time was heavily influenced by Hindustani and Indian Raghadaree music, I believe that the melody was an adaptation of a western tune.
