He pampered the armed services for loyalty. The army went about grabbing properties in prime locations to establish businesses. The defeat of Mahinda has thrown the spanner in the works. The new President Maithripala Sirisena’s decision to release the properties is very very bold. The army of course never allowed for this and will dawdle hoping yet another change in government. Collecting photos of people coming back to reside is a form of intimidation. This is to remind the people of white-vans.

Why is the army involved in the hand-back? Should this be entrusted to the local government?
