Jayalath, there are laws already on the books “to suppress the deforestation”. A few rupees here or there, or the patronage of corrupt politicians make these laws not only comical but absurd. I fear that only the extinction of the human species will save what is left of the forests.

Actually as you have mentioned if the government would take necessary step to cover forest with 35% that would be a greater opportunity to Sri Lankan and generally to the world environment perspective . yet we must know who are we ? Aren’t you ? First thing we must do is that initiate to kick off a wider discussion among us about the consequences of rising population which directly affect to the sustainable nature . And introduce new laws and orders to suppress the deforestation . And most important part is discipline which is the most valuable part of whole process. It can work as improving the awareness of planting new trees individually and protecting trees that we have already .
