It seems to me that it was precisely written by a soldier . What we must realise is those soldiers are come from poor back ground ,especially from rural villages , perhaps many of them might have good educational Back grounds and just joint the army because lack of employments opportunities . So, some of them among them may have well understanding about the real life and the acrimony of a war , who ever it has been written can be one of them.
The war is an erroneous human error and how ever we define it to justify which would never be correct .
