Like we see now what happening in America. They will get destroyed by their own people.

The Russians ARE reeling Senaratne. They too,
like us, are unable and incapable of anticipating the long term consequences of
their short term actions, which, initially plays well with the gallery crowd
who then think their leader is a macho hero. Then the long term consequences
begin to bite and the gallery crowed are left well and truly stranded. Now
27,000 Russian citizens are stranded overseas and planes are getting grounded
etc etc. Read: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28637794

true. He was expecting economic sanctions even after the second resolution but
its still not happening even after the third resolution. Maybe after the n th
resolution (n = infinity).

It was the Sri Lankans who suffered for 30 years not the
international community. Some western politicians are after Tamil votes and the
Human rights industry is doing their best to earn their bread and butter.

To do a regime change there has to an alternative. But who
or what is the alternative. There is no one capable of challenging Rajapaksa.
Only Sajith Premadasa has a chance but he is not mature enough at the moment.

In my view nothing will happen in the next 24 months. The
Clinton – O Blake strategy of scaring off Sri Lanka and kicking the Chinese out
of the island has miserable failed. Sri Lanka can successfully continue to
ignore these non binding UNHCR resolutions. After all Obama would not want to mess
up a country that is growing over 7% after suffering for 30 years. He just can’t
leave with such bad credentials after messing up in Ukraine, Syria etc.

Kevin: The russians are reeling? Geez, try to control your excitement about a regime change and the rise of terrorism again!

We have always been a traitorous, ungrateful people and a nation with a short memory! I only hope that our men, women and children, who gave their lives and limbs for this freedom that we all enjoy today (even the bogus human rights defenders and people clamouring for regime change) didnt die in vain !

the UNHRC (3 years and 3 resolutions, and no doubt scores of international
meetings and worldwide lobbying) because they must have a long term game plan which takes into account
the veto power of China and Russia at the Security Council (UNSC). The trio did not go to the UNSC to slap
targeted and damaging sanctions on cash rich Russia and the folks close to
Putin. And the Russians are reeling. The
trio can do even worse damage to Sri Lanka as 80% of our exports go to this
trio. But the game plan is not yet fully actioned. In all probability they are waiting for the
UNHRC’s comprehensive written report in March 2015. That will be the trigger.
Once armed with that report they will begin to implement targeted sanctions and
travel bans against certain individuals – a scalpel operation rather than the sledgehammer
of total trade sanctions. The US can additionally prohibit state banks or banks
in which cronies have major shares from trading in the US Currency or using US
Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and Amex). Those will be crippling restrictions
for all imports and forex transactions including tourism revenue and maybe a
last resort. The US can also go after individuals who are or were US citizens
for tax evasion or war crimes, quite outside the ICC (which requires a UNSC
resolution). Tax violation is how they got Al Capone. Once he was arrested and removed
from his weapons and powers base his empire collapsed and all those who were around
him snitched on him and gave evidence of the bigger crimes. The US has listened in on phone conversations
of even the German Chancellor. Without doubt the US has amassed a huge amount
of incriminating phone calls made and received by the power elite in Colombo. The dossier must be huge and awaits the March
2015 watershed. A BJP led India on the other hand does not have the economic or
intelligence scalpel of the trio. Hence, their intervention will be more
sledgehammer type. We will know those
actions well before March 2015. Clearly, a regime change in Colombo is what
they are after. They have no interest in
Sri Lanka itself collapsing and becoming a basket case.

Do you know why the investigation has not been launched? Is there a reason for the delay?

Those who depend on the regime for political favors have no choice I guess.
