Why was it removed within a few days?
LLRC website disappeared the week before PR companies were appointed in the US in February 2013 and appeared the day after UNHRC resolution was passed on 27 March 2014!

If this government has spent more in the North than any other post-Independence government, the relevant question is whether that amount is enough, or too much, or whether it was spent the right way, not how it compares to defence spending or money spent on importing chewing gum.

You can argue that the government hasn’t got its priorities right. But when defence is involved, this is a political issue, not just an economic issue. I thought the title of your article was “Illusory Economy versus the Real Economy of Sri Lanka”.

You’re also writing stuff like “according to this author’s estimation while the countrywide unemployment rate was 18.0% in 2011 (though the official rate was just 4.2% in 2011), it was 32.8% in the Northern Province in the same year.” Do you really think this is the right question to ask if you want to know whether a government policy is working in an area that had been ruined by a thirty year long war? A more sensible stat would be the change in unemployment rate from 2010 to 2013, or something like that that reflects change over a given period of time. The way you’re looking at this is completely nonsensical. You might as well say since Western countries have higher per capita income than us, none of our economic policies are working.

The rest are fair criticisms I think, especially the one about GDP growth rate. We all know it’s not real growth.

The problem is, when he himself starts believing the stories he tells others-something which has happened already !
