Text above seems to have been taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uvais_Mohamed_Imitiyas

I’m referring to the last mayor of Colombo, Uvais Mohamed Imitiyas, who is also a Muslim and was Mayor of 5 years.

His ‘democratic’ story is below:

Uvais Mohamed Imitiyas was the Mayor of Colombo. Imtiyas was an Auto rickshaw driver from an impoverished background who contested local government elections on an independent ticket.[2] At that stage he had no realistic chance of being elected. However, technical electoral issues (proposing an underage candidate in the list) meant that the UNP candidates led by Sirisena Cooray could not contest the election. An agreement was reached to use the symbol of Imitiyas’s group on the condition that he would renounce the seat if elected, allowing the UNP to appoint a mayor of their own choice. UNP led by Cooray campaigned for the independent group and they won under the spectacles symbol, but Imitiyas reneged on the agreement and remained in office, joining the ruling UPFA and did not stand for re-election.

You say the majority of the Colombo’s population consists of Tamils and Muslims…

The last tamil mayor was born pre-independence and was only mayor for 1 year, 96-97. The last tamil mayor before him was forty years before him, also for just 1 year, 53-54. No tamil born post-independence has every been mayor. And no Muslim was elected mayor prior to 1960

It should be our duty to look after how it is now . Do you think that Goverment alone can do all the things . I suppose you must civilise first .if our city is clean who should get the credit ? We all as Sri lankan . I do not know where these people come from and remember , the world we live now is made by us , if you want , you can take it as you wish my friend .

It is not our interest to know or repeat  it again and again  with what is happening in this country , not only about  last four years , obiviously since 1948 .if you have real enthusiasm and interest to  be a genuine partner of leading our country to a better place  as you wish or if you have suggestions that what role of system will fit to us and  whom  do you think that  you will grapple the hand to fulfill that great task .you may know that we never lack of pundits who predicts and write about  what would best to the country . however , they are unsuccessful , and failures . That is why we still writing and moaning about . Therefore i would appreciate to know from the writers like you to initiate to write about what is best fit to our country economically and socially .

”’During your stay you will meet many young and old Sri Lankans who will
tell you Colombo is shining thanks to the Rajapakses. However, none of
you (or even them for that matter) are likely to meet one of the 70,000
families who will be forcibly evicted and moved to northern and eastern
parts of the city to ensure Colombo becomes a world-class garden city.
They will certainly not meet Madonna (name changed), a domestic worker,
who has lived in a low income settlement near Castle Street in Borella
for more than 30 years but whose family is being forcibly moved into a
much smaller flat in a high-rise located further away. She will not be
able to tell you that rather than receive any compensation for her house
that is to be demolished, she actually has to pay just over a million
rupees to the state over the next 20 years to secure a title to this
flat, starting with a down-payment of 50,000 rupees very soon, which she
does not have. ”

do you think houses that low income family is getting better than these ones? http://www.defence.lk/img/Mihindu_Sethpura_mega_housing_20131118_06p25.jpg
check out what those people getting.can they build house like this in their own?

Where did you pull out your statistics from?

It clearly shows that Sinhalese or Buddhists outnumber other races and religions in the Colombo region by a large margin. Grow up and stop imagining things.

you didn’t say in this article.

The facts!!

Colombo’s beauty didn’t come over night. It has been happening
for very long time thanks to Secretary of defence. If you want to see the facts you are welcome
here : – http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=108852001#post108852001

Is it possible to build a 26km expressway form airport and grow
trees in the city in one day you idiot? Since the city was neglected for very
long time with his power he uses military personals to do some clean-up work. What’s
wrong with that since we don’t have a war anymore to fight for? You have no
facts but whining likes a little girl.

Most expensive in the world ?? Man do some google search will you?

Bullet-proof S400 Mercedes Benz ?? Really ??

In most other parts of Colombo there are in
fact no bus shelters of any kind at all, usually just a little sign.:- Which part of Colombo is that ??

You will be pleased to see that the streets of
Colombo are clean but much of this is thanks to a large force of mostly poor
and elderly daily wage-workers employed on harsh terms by private contractors
to whom solid waste management has been outsourced:- you just
describes capitalism. So what is your suggestion then? Fire all those people
and don’t care to clean ?

However, none of you (or even them for that
matter) are likely to meet one of the 70,000 families who will be forcibly evicted and moved
to northern and eastern parts of the city to ensure Colombo becomes a world-class
garden city :- why you forget to mention the money government
pay for those house owner and the new housing units for low income families ??
what you are trying to say let them live in the slums ?? http://www.uda.lk/investment_relocation.html

If you spend enough time to look carefully you
will see yourself that though projected as ‘public’ spaces, these are in fact
spaces where the less privileged come to labour and the well-heeled to slake
their thirst for a life-style:- In Which country every citizen
can afford to buy every things they sell ?? Again blame the capitalism not
Srilanka for that? Are those less privileged people starving?? in fact have you
ever see a srilankan dead without food ??

While all vehicles will bear special CHOGM
number plates they will not reveal to you that Sri Lanka’s public debt has
risen alarmingly, to Rs. 3 trillion or nearly 80 per cent of GDP:- yes and it used to be more than 100% thanks to
your war. We just bring it down. Here is the fact you missed :- http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=ce&v=143

Next time do some research before you cry .
