He was one who rose beyond religious, ethnic and other boundaries created by man. Fr Tissa was a true lover of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan culture and heritage alongside famous poet Fr Jayakody and others and I fondly remember his sense of humor and profound knowledge and understanding of Buddhism as well. May he attain peace!

This is extremely important for our children to know the great people who have been engaged in social work for the betterment of the society.

Was there any investigation into the murder of Fr Michael Rodrigo’s killing? If so, what was the outcome?

One can possibly accept the behaviour of the “higher ups” in far away Vatican, but to have the Sri Lankan Catholic Church behave in such a manner with regards to a fellow islander is unforgivable. He was quite literally hounded by the fundamentalists in the Sri Lankan Catholic Church, not unsimilar to manner in which Galileo was hounded. The same people are making a huge fuss over legalising abortion in the island; they oppose birth control and yet they do not want to deal with the consequences. There really ought to be a memorial put up for this gentleman, for standing up against a cold-hearted hierarchy that brooks no opposition or alternative views.
