This is very worrying:

”According to news reaching from the former LTTE hideout in and around the north-east Pudukudiyiruppu, Vanni, military men engaged in non-combating patrols are heavily engaged in harassing the Tamil school girls” – 24 August 2012, http://www.srilankaguardian.org/2012/08/frustrated-army-harassing-tamil-school.html

Whom can they report this to?
To the army commanders controlling the region ??

Samaraweera
30-yr reactionary terrorism is gone but the 64-yr state terrorism goes on unabated. Aren’t you sad/ashamed of it?

Is this a good gesture?

Luxumy
What about the first World War and the 2nd WW? Their victories are celebrated by the West. Were those two wars not violent? WW 11 was only for 4 years. The war in Sri Lanka was for 30 years and the people will not forget what they went through during that period from the LTTE. It appears that Luxmy was in another Planet during those 3 decades. Some are still crying for terror backers !

Luxmy,
Why deflect the good intents of this article towards something quite unrelated?
The showering of flower petals from a former gun-ship helicopter was a great gesture and was apparently welcomed and appreciated by the devotees. The writer highlights the contrast between falling bombs and falling petals- a dramatic change since the war ended- quite well. Is’nt this a meaningful reconciliatory gesture? Why defile a postive gesture?

You may have grievances about how the war ended and have a right to complain. That is a separate story. However, please do not let this cloud your judgement on the positives unfolding now. It is quite unbecoming of a Tamil, who is undoubtedly concerned about fellow Tamils in Sri Lanka, in terms of our culture.

Organisations in neighbouring countries should also be prodded to join forces – otherwise it’s a difficult job in South Asia.

i.The format of the LLRC action plan is very ”professionsl” but the contents are quite deceiving.

ii.While the government oppresses the people in the North politically, economically, socially, culturally and environmentally, it sends a helicopter to shower flower petals on Nallur temple:

This is adding insult to injury.
This is also distilled inhumanism.

What do the citizens and the future generations learn from what the government does to its society?

Reconciliation? Gender equality? Protecting children?
