Places where we should have natural vegetation are filled by Buddha statues all over the country and now vehemently the in the Northeast. People are transferring their responsibilities to take care of their brother to concrete structures which are wiping out the nature so essential for life of all forms.

Thivya, how can we fight anti-Tamil racism when you can’t even reply to what I’ve said?

Nothing wrong in Malwatte chapter and Asgiriya chapter visiting thse areas to make temple if such demand exist. Mean time better issue a clear guidence on how to define a sacride place. As for now in Sri Lanka many killometers around a temple will become sacride from nowhere and then all the other religious places will become non sacride by these rasist self defined definitions. Dogs can move around but other religious followers’ cannot.pathertic indeed!

Dr Ranjit Leanage,

Nice try, in Sri Lanka the Sinhala monks are part of the problem. They are one of the main reasons the country is in this despicable condition. The rampant Buddhism and violent and self-seeking political monks have been the bane of Sri Lankan politics. Buddhist religion and Sinhala racist politics are a heady mixture in that country and exploiting this highly combustible situation that can ultimately consume all of Sri Lanka.

The Buddha preached non-violence not only in regard to living things but also in regard to non- living things like trees and forests, but what do we see today in practice? Today the very Buddha`s statue has become the symbol of Sinhalese hegemony and anti Tamil racism. The Buddha`s statues and stupas are being built and planted in Tamil Homeland to grab the land! This is the stark reality; the Tamils are facing now in their own historic homeland in the North – East of Sri Lanka.

This will encourage religous harmony and also promote agriculture and farming. The Defence forces have to be present not only to safeguard from foreign elements but also LTTE terrorism which has killed and massacred so many people including at religous places. After all in the west no one complains of the presence of Army, Navy,or Airforce anywhere in their country. It would be nice for the Chritian church and Hidu’s together with Buddhist get together work in a peaceful manner to develop the region with agriculture which will boost the whole country.

The Tamil fishermen’s livelihood is being destroyed by the illegal Sinhala fishermen settlers. The Tamils from both sides of Palk Strait have been fishing in the sea of Tamils from time immemorial without any problem whatsoever. Commanders of the occupying Sri Lankan military have become brokers bringing in hundreds of fishermen from south and allowing them to operate from coastal areas where Tamil civilians are denied resettlement.

The ethnic cleansing of Tamil is continuing in the North and East. The North never had influx of Sinhala fishermen like this before, now there are thousands of them. The truth is the Tamil IDP’s are languishing in makeshift tents along the road sides while the foreign aid received to settle them is being used to build fancy houses for Sinhala settlers in the historic habitat of Tamils. The Tamil fishermen are not allowed to fish in their traditional sea but the Sinhala fishermen settlers are brought in from the South and are occupying the Tamil’s houses. From Jaffna to Amparai, the entire coast is being occupied by the Sinhala fishermen

There is no disobedience in the Forces. They are totally submissive to the “Rajapakse’s”
The subtle arrangement between the Rajapakse Clan and Brothers establishes a clear pattern of how Sri Lanka is going to be administered.
The Speaker was appointed to discourage “impeachment”
MR has taken a lesson out of Premadasa’s impeachment motion.
A impeachment motion is centered around the Speaker, He is the one who accepts a impeachment motion and decides its fate.
Now that avenue has been sealed.
Gota was brought in to consolidate the Forces.
He has by manipulation and purging cleaned the forces to suit his requirement. The elements that are opposed to his thinking have been dispersed.
Basil is screwing everybody else, pretending to be illustrious and concerned about economic affairs, and duping the Sinhala Buddhist Masses.
Mr.Ethirveerasingham
You have not seen through the hidden hands of the people who want to subjugate the Minorities. You have to live as long as me to physically understand the Ground Realities.
Rayappu Joseph is bound not by language to defend his people against torture and descriminiation. He is bound by values which transends beyond all barriers.
The Mahanayakes cannot get into this melee, they have a conflict of interest.

In short, there is a “military government” in the north tacitly allowed by the government, but kept “hidden” from the international community.
Their disobediance, & oppression of civilians post-war, is ignored/tolerated.
Meanwhile, many confabs have been held on ‘reconciliation’ and the government is reported to be preparing to report on its “success” in postwar measures to “return to normalcy” – at the pending Universal Periodic Review of the UNHRC.
In today’s world of internet, press freedom & and communication among nations and peoples, can the government fool the members of the UNHRC?
