China strategy is always pragmatic: they want to do business and to secure their trade. This includes also sensitive position in the market. It is only but natural that the telecom expansion comes with intelligence coverage: don’t forget that the Anglo-Saxon block is currently covering the entire globe. It’s just that the Pax Americana seems more reliable and acceptable than a Pax Sina.
The question with regards of Sri Lanka becomes: what about India? New Delhi played a big role during the conflict with its intelligence and electronic surveillance, which is quite advanced (see for example the Panopticon project). Everybody thinks that India lags behind China in the courting of Colombo. But I doubt that Sri Lanka could cut off entirely its giant neighbour, in favour of a distant new friend. This applies in all subjects. Rajapaksa is playing a tight strategy, very successfully so far. It made me thinking that it’s not so tight precisely because so successful.That is: Rajapaksa is playing much more safer than we suspect and the China involvement much lighter than it appears.

The Chinese are getting in simply because :

(1) They are cheaper.

(2) They offer better payment terms (upto 3 years after installation).

The rest is simply nonviable western businesses trying to spread dissension.

Of course their is a price to pay with regard to lower quality and performance levels but when you have 3 years to pay in these low revenue markets…do you have a choice ?

If the Government of Sri Lanka and the Sinhala nation give all the rights to all the citizens of Lanka, foreign countries will not be able to interfere much in the internal matters of Sri Lanka.Keep in your mind. The Sinhala Theravada Buddhist nationalism based on the imaginary and false doctrine: Aryan – Sinhala – Sinhalese – Theravada Buddhism – Lanka with one to one correspondence has only prevented our country from economic, social and political development and advancement. It is foolish to blame the other countries for our mistakes.

Its quite simple, those who want their imperialistic and separatist agendas want a divided Sri Lanka and they will continue to bring charges of accountability and rights abuses(While deaf and blind to the abuses committed in Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine etc)for disregarding their advice and finishing the terrorists.

They want Sri Lanka to be either under developed or dance to their tunes(Which they have failed miserably as the incumbent is elected by huge majorities. This is aided by some Colombians and faded and jaded NGO and their local handful of followers, media personel

Yes they are pertubed as even their own economies are control by the Chinese indirectly and has significant influence in Africa and Asia as a growing power base with lot money to throw around.

Sri Lanka has a choice. Either to remain under developed under the influence of these white masters, or to move forward with rapid infrastructure development with the next power house, China who continue to help the nation to stand up firm in the march for development and prosperity.

Yes naturally this will antogonise the white masters and their followers as their plans are torn apart and nothing seems to go their way as the majority Lankans know who our real friends at this point of time.
