Three responses. One after another. And you made some spelling mistakes also.

But why don’t you write your responses also in Dayanspeak? These responses are in normal English and some of your responses to other people on Groundviews sometimes read like the words of a little kid who is throwing a tantrum when he can’t get his way. You mustn’t do this. People will start talking you know. This guy has a split personality, they will say. And we know no matter what you got it is not a split personality don’t we? But you know how people talk.

But If you write your responses in Dayanspeak, I will translate them also, if I have the time and can be bothered with them. But I must say I read your reponses more than your “articles”. They are a lot more entertaining.

Now, if you don’t get too agitated here is a little joke about you. The orginal was not about you (you are not that original) but it suits you perfectly:

A man was devoured by MR and was walking up and down his stomach. He saw (Doctor) Dayan Jayatilleke aproaching.

“Ah doctor” the man asked, surprised (because you can still surprise some people you know). ‘Were you also devoured by MR?”

The doctor smiled. “No way!” he said proudly, puffung his little chest. “I came up the other way.”

Of course we know that you would have never called it the “other way”. You would have called it an “alternative anal project” or even an “anal intervention” but still you get the joke right?

And don’t ask me how a man could be walking inside MR’s stomach even after he was devoured. You should know these things. You are the one with all the degrees!

And don;t get too flustered. We don;t want you messing up your spelling now do we?

1. You hate Mahinda Rajapakse ‘and all his works’ ( to wax Biblical) because (a) he didn’t bend over and take it from the Tigers or the West, unlike Ranil and ( b) he’s not ashamed of being Sinhalese.

2. You detest young Premadasa on the off chance that the apple may not have fallen far from the tree, and his old man crushed the JVP, sent off the IPKF, chucked out David Gladstone, tranferred income to the poor, wrested the party briefly from the elite and had no time for the cosmoplitan civil society types.

1. I, Spin the Yarn and my civil society co-thinkers ( hardly ” we the people”), detest MR and all his works, chiefly because he didn’t bend over and take it from the Tigers and the West as did Ranil, plus he is also a Sinhalese who isn’t ashamed of being one.

2. I’d like to see change in my time, but as I am one who lacks the guts to even put my name to this post, I am unlikely to do a damn thing aboput it.

3. While it is true that the main opposition party is the only acceptable agency of democratic change, and has been in electoral meltdown under its present leadership, and its own young parliamentarians such as Dayasiri Jayasekara repeatedly testify that internal interviews and polling show only one man as acceptable to the party’s grassroots and capable of reviving the party’s fortunes, I don’t like that.

4. Though the status quo in the opposition is the precondition and prop for the status quo in general, I, Spin the Yarn, who is against a change over in the opposition leadership to the one guy who can revive it before it crashes and burns at/after the upcoming local government elections, is a principled opponent and critic of the MR regime while DJ, who has long advocated such a change, is the one who is ‘bum-sucking’ MR!

Read, reflect, figure out the writing on the wall and think about who sounds the more absurd, out of touch and out of time, me or you folk. So here goes:

UNP rejects federal solution
There is no need for a federal political solution in Sri Lanka, the country’s main opposition has said.

The United National Party (UNP),that has agreed for a federal solution with the Tamil Tigers, said it is no longer necessary to devolve the centralised power into regions as there are no longer ‘armed militants’.

In the Oslo statement agreed by the UNP-led government and the LTTE it was stated that “both parties have decided to explore a political solution founded on internal self-determination based on a federal structure within a united Sri Lanka”.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told BBC Sandeshaya that the need of the hour is to ‘sort out day to day issues’ of the Tamil community in the north and east instead of a political solution for the national question.

He, however, said the UNP will not support any move to amend or abolish the 13 amendment that paved the way for the establishment of the Provincial Councils.

“The 13 amendment is a part of the Sri Lanka constitution. We will continue to support it. But the need of the hour is to provide Tamil people with build up their normal life,” he said.

The amendment, introduced by the government after the Indo -Lanka agreement in 1987, is yet to be fully implemented.

Speaking with the BBC in London, Mr. Attanayake, added that there is no need for a political solution as the times have changed after the military defeat of the Tamil Tigers.

Looks like it is not just the West but the emerging super-powers in the East are engaging in neo-colonialism of smaller countries. This is perhaps what Dayan means by Eastern economic miracle.

Well, it is all part of the game, eh.

Dayan says, “The breakup of India and Pakistan was one of the saddest things that have happened in the history of Asia. Imagine if the British machinations to do so had not succeeded?”
India, as it is today, is a collection of linguistic states (something you would have opposed in Sri Lanka as the leaders have in the past) based on quasi-federalism. Had it not been for the break up of India and Pakistan, it would have contributed to the internal political violence and instability. Secession is the only way to peace sometimes, this would balance out the domination of larger nations or groups on others.

Everyone in this world
Without exception
Is doing his own thing
Running their own trips
Chaos is natural
But we try
With our questioning mind
Our hunger for explanations
To impose order
Order is imposed
With a herculean effort
Only to be washed away
By the next wave from the sea
So do your thing
But don’t try too hard
To control
Other human beings
