My questions are: Why has the “women’s movement” in Sri Lanka not succeeded in bringing women under one banner to increase their political representation when women have common concerns and do not necessarily support the militaristic agenda? Should women fight for 30% representation as in India, to put an end to the violent male dominated politics that characterise Sri Lanka? What can be done to increase the currently non-exixtent representation of women in the government committees that determine post-war policy?
