Since the beginning of the global financial crisis in 2007, there have occurred numerous economic and financial crisis around the globe, whilst the blame is directed at two parties – government and the banks, there is however, a third villain that bears primary responsibility for the disasters – the economic profession. Harsha De silva who appears to be a voluntary spokesman on behalf of the Beleaguered opposition needs to be cautious on airing his rational opinion based on information gathered from an institute as there is a gulf between theory and reality, and further without the insight and wisdom of a well beaten politician.

He has given warning of the country rapidly becoming like greece in the handling of the economy.
So far, there is no solution to the biggest loser, the petroleum corporation, which is plagued with overstaffing and waste – now headed by a business tycoon whose sole pursuit is making more money and none other.
The treasury head is a major fraudster convicted & punished by the supreme court which said that he “ran his own central bank” ouside the provisions of the budget.
The nation is indebted to the hilt, but the MPs carry on regardless, with their first concern being ‘duty free’ vehicles which are ‘sold’ promptly at massive profit. It is a mystery why each MP needs more than one vehicle and driver – the former foreign minister is said to be due to hand over 52 vehicles !!
Even in rich countries, each politician is allotted one vehicle and driver, from a pool. Here they speak of “security” needs when the war is long over – the prime minister is hysterical about threats from LTTE which has been decimated, with remnants in detention camps!!
AG’s reports to COPE – and those of the many “commissions” – are kept secret and government MPs stifle any inquiry at meetings.
Wijedasa Rajapakse has bared this.
The writing is on the wall, but the governmnt carries on regardless, continuing wasteful expenditure in loss making enterprises.
The nation is living on borrowed money and noone seems bothered.
