Is there a perfect human being anywhere? SF’s motives may not be 100% perfect but he has determination and courage to accomplish what he wills. This trait coupled with several political party support can lead SL out of this bottomless pit. If SL will become corrupt, he will take a few years to learn the ropes. If MR is returned, he will sell SL and also a part of India to anyone who wants its – China, Burma, Libya, Iran not only US

Yes, in comparision to Sarath Fonseka. I think Mahinda well knew of Fonseka’s vindictive and power hungry nature, which is probably why he appointed Fonseka as army commander and then gave him a ceremonial role after the war. I think events after this have shown that Fonseka is definitely power hungry and vengeful.

They forget fast. These are the same fools who voted to get two measures of rice for free from Sirima and late suffered the consequences, electing JRJ, who ruined the nation. The same people who will try to use influence and bribes to secure positions etc., which are not due to the, and complain about corruption when they are not successful. They deserve what they get, SF or otherwise.

. He also comes acros as a vindictive, self-centred individual and I shudder to think what would hapeen if he had unlimited power at his disposal.

Does Mahinda come across as a non-vindictive, non-self-centered individual to you?

I think Sarath is good for South not North. President is good for the Whole country.

Tamil votes will not make a huge difference this time. The majority Sinhala rural voter is likely to vote for Mahinda R after all he won the war as Commander in Chief. It is the Sinhala rural vote which is going to be decisive.
Sarath Fonseka is only a soldier and people are not too sure of him.

He is an army man and has zero experience with politics. He also comes acros as a vindictive, self-centred individual and I shudder to think what would hapeen if he had unlimited power at his disposal. Also his partners are just two diverse – will they provided political stability or political instability?

The Tamils will simply not vote for him as they would have done for Ranil. I fail to see how the Tamil vote can be “decisive” in this election, considering that Tamil voter turnout is likely to be very low, period.

The people I spoke to are going to vote for Mahinda Rajapakse because he won the war. In the Pottuvil area which was affected by war the roads are been rebuilt and a water sanitation project is gong on in town. Pottuvil is just one example of support for Mahinda, but I believe in the rural areas as a whole the President has immense support. There are no posters of General Fonseka in Pottuvil.

Removed without trace by the Police at OUR expense.
On Friday afternoon people here all realised that there was an eclipse of the sun.
On Saturday afternoon I asked “What is today’s difference?” 80 percent of those whom I asked did not realise the difference.
With voters like this what can we expect?

Why all this talk of voting for Mahinda or Sarath, while complaining about their corruption and inconsistency. Don’t you know that you have THREE Preferences that you can exercise. Give the FIRST and SECOND to honest, consistent candidates.

I dropped in for 15 minutes at the Local Town Hall last afternoon for a Wije Dias meeting. He is a Presidential Candidate, by the way. The hall was arranged with 700 chairs. I counted those present. Including the two speakers and myself, the numbers were 20. I sat in a corner. When I sneaked out 19 were left. They (bless their souls!) were much more committed.

If you want an honest candidate to register a Protest Vote, there’s Wije Dias. Totally honest, decent and committed.
