I read one of your blogs (may be the Thevaram one) and wondered who he you are? Today I found another one and dig you more. As Justice wrote we need more from you, specially at this juncture. Please find more time ( I know you don’t have enough) and write more blogs. PLEASE.

“….At Jaffna Hindu College I learnt that mathematics was the language from God, more and more of its beauty waiting to be discovered – all the others were man-made, and have some finite life in the timescales of human evolution…”

Only few people are around there in the world who can talk like this. I am one of your friends who spent 4 or 5 years with you.

“…..Sabalingam didn’t think much of me. Coming from an estate school, he thought I wasn’t going to pass O/L, so he gave me a place in 10R….”

Probably, this kind of arrogant mind set is one of many reasons why we are in deep trouble at the moment.

What concerns me is this. These great giants (there were many giants like Mr Sabalingam and Mr Kumarasamy at that time) moulded the students of Jaffna. Fine products, like Professor Niranjan, were brought out. Unfortunately, many of them have decided to settle abroad for reasons beyond their control. Now, we don’t see anyone on the calibre of these Principals among us (in Jaffna), not even near them. And the effect could be seen in our present day students. What is going to become of us?

This is precisely what the demise of the LTTE should bring about, a space for moderate voices to speak out. The more extreme voices will doubtless continue with their shrill racial cacophony, but there is now new hope of bridge building among the moderate sections of society.
