Thanks for recommending Col. Dave Grossman; but, man, I’m not into this culture of violence: religion, terrorism, war, money-making, propaganda etc… I grew up listening to Supertramp’s “The Logical Song”. Call me a sissy, hey, that’s okay with me!

Peace Out!

Here, i am merely a storyteller – nothing more, nothing less. these are a narrative of my experiences and the thoughts that got entangled with the memories that i carry from it – the facts may be wrong and the thoughts politically incorrect or the judgements unfair at times… but that’s part of the imperfection of the state of affairs that i hope will inspire an honest discussion.

@ Disgusted: i have only completed the four peices published already, but the real story has not even started yet. we maintained a log during our time at Menik Farm and this covers 5 lines out of three pages

@ Talking Head; I recommend you read Col. Dave Grossman, particularly “On Killing” and “On Combat”

Man, I know what you mean about them soldier dudes and all that violence. My friend down the street is a Vietnam vet and I am still in shock after what this guy told me. Oh, man that Agent Orange stuff…it’s just brutal! His grandfather fought in the WW II, and what I learnt about this war put me in a catatonic state for a month.

God bless you and your chums for working with the needy.

But lacks the investigation or the invitation to change the status like any interventional art should do.
I hope the writer and his/her team ( and many other teams) will go beyond the field trip experience and engage in their respective areas. True ” but we cannot yet speak each other’s languages” . The question is can we ever learn to speak the (social-cultural and political) language of the ‘Other’? What is the post Prapa political structure that would promote such dialogue ? what is the responsibility of the majoritarian Sinhalas and their ruling elites? what is the role of the Thamilar and their remaining representatives?
