– Sinhala language is derived from Pali and Sanskrit, both of Indian origin, a foreign land.
– Tamil is a Dravidian language originating in foreign India
– Buddhism is a foreign faith, that originated in India and was introduced by proselytizing monks dispatched by Emperor Ashoka who managed to convert the king of Lanka (the first conversion!)
– Hinduism, Christianity and Islam are all foreign religions that have been introduced to the island of Lanka by various foreigners
– English language is a part of the British colonial legacy.

It is also a historical fact that only the few hundred Veddahs can claim to be indigenous to this land. All others are immigrants – they have arrived at different periods in our history, but not natives.

So the only people who can REALLY object to all things foreign are the Veddahs. I haven’t heard them voicing their concerns yet….

Is that pose of lovers in an embrace something that the Cultural SS Troops would allow on the Galle Face Green?
However, I have to agree that importing women cheerleaders is a damned disgrace to our local women. It would be far better to hire our local girls to do the gyrating. I have seen many girls who will easily qualify for this job displaying their talents at local clubs. A TV Star Search program could easily pick the right people to start this local girls for the job. If this trend catches on in Asia just imagine the foreign exchange Sri Lanka could earn by exporting our curvy gyraters to all sports events all over Asia and perhaps Europe and USA too. Is it not better to be a well paid cheerleader than a low salaried housemaid?

JHU and JVP should held a protest if early action is not taken.

We cannot take our children to “Sigiriya” while they show all these in public. Down with imperialism.

What more can we expect from a bunch of hypocrites whose whole purpose in life appears to be practicing one thing whilst preaching another. Double standards are child’s play for these paragons of virtue. Watch out for the Taliban values being imposed by the fundies amongst them – all in the name of Sinhala Buddhist culture.
