Highly recommend “Charred lullabies” by Valentine Daniel. We talk about the “Tamil problem”, the “muslim issue” etc. but it is a human issue. How…we can be manipulated to hate or fear the “other”.

Many Sinhalese helped Tamils when their houses were being burnt and everything they owned destroyed. After the tsunami, the spontaneous and most useful help was from the communities, unaided by NGOs or the Government or anyone else. The Sinhala Koti (Sinhala LTTE) tirade of the present day government can’t erase those who want to coexist in peace and harmony. But the problem is that today our message of peace is being hijacked by politicians in power. People can only hear them and their hate.
