Sri Lanka was plunged into a constitutional crisis on Friday, with the announcement that President Maithripala Sirisena had removed PM Ranil Wickremesinghe from his office, and swore in former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the new PM.

We have published and continue to regularly update three Twitter Moments, anchored to carefully curated updates off Twitter that add context.

  1. Constitutional Crisis in #SriLanka
  2. Citizens protest the #ConstitutionalCrisisSriLanka
  3. #ConstitutionalCrisisSriLanka: On the reconvening of Parliament

This is in addition to our own tweets and retweets on Twitter under @groundviews.

Also on Twitter, we have four key lists providing updates, live, from the ground in Sri Lanka and also commentary, insight, analysis and critiques of the constitutional crisis.

  1. SLPP and Rajapakasas
  2. NGOs and Civil Society
  3. Official accounts of the President, PM’s office, other MPs, politicians and government institutions

Groundviews also curates a WhatsApp group over which it pushes updates and other material. Please contact the Editor, Raisa Wickremetunge on ‭+94 (77) 110 3076‬ to be added to this list. Because of trolls, comment spam and other common issues associated with the publication of a WhatsApp group’s link publicly, we cannot share it openly here.
