As reported in the media, Government parliamentarian Arundhika Fernando told parliament on 5 June that missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda is currently residing in France.

On 6 June, the media met Keheliya Rambukwella, the incumbent Media and Information Minister in Sri Lanka.

This recording was provided to Groundviews by a journalist present at the media briefing.

Keheliya is a [edited out] and a dishonourable one at that – this recording is just further proof of what anyone with a brain has known for years. The fact that he is the government’s media spokesman tells us how low an opinion the government has of the media and the public. But Keheliya’s [edited out] is only the lighter side of the moral rot that runs all the way down and all the way up the government chain of command, as evidenced by the following story from the government’s official website, which repeats the latest version of the lie that Prageeth is living happily in exile:

Perhaps others in the media ministry and propaganda departments are remembering that the last person to publicly recycle this lie was later promoted to become Chief Justice.

Justice? Is there anyone in the government who even remembers what that concept means?

Here we have a textbook example of how the Minister of Media Obfuscation operates. The ruling regime couldn’t give cowpat for the media anyway and Rambukwella is well suited to practice the dark arts of obfuscation and stalling to keep the frothing press dogs at bay. The fact is that the electorally important people are not likely to forget who delivered peace to them from the accursed operations of the terrorists that plagued us. The reward for that will last King MR and his band of brothers many many more elections.
