Haven’t you heard what happened when the King was told that his kingdom was currently lacking in spice? He pondered the question for many days, consulted his numerous advisors and courtiers, and issued a royal decree: You may have any amount of spice in this kingdom as long as it is basil!!!

We will restore Sri Lanka to the glory of our pre-colonial past, come what may. Just give this government a few more years. Anyone who stands in the way, or questions this, will be a traitor and will need to be dealt with suitably.

If the writer of this essay finds contemporary Sri Lanka lacking in spice, he can ask his sulking anti-national friends in media and academia whether their enormous concentration of sour grapes could help!

This article itself is living proof that there is a vast international conspiracy to undermine and ridicule Sri Lanka at this point in time, and that there are willing natives who are conniving and complicit for a fistful of dollars. How much does Groundviews pay, from the CPA’s ill-gotten foreign funds, for writings like this? Using clever metaphor and good language, these writers push a devious agenda that goes against the national interest and national security of our motherland. We have recently liberated it from the Tamils, but this article reminds us that we still have anti-Sinhala elements who question our glorious history and challenge our patriotic government.

The writer says “Excepting the aboriginal Veddahs, now numbering a few hundred, all other races are immigrants who came from somewhere else. All religious faiths were also â€˜imported’. ” How does he explain the glorious pre-Vijaya civilization that existed on the island of Lanka? Ravana is the best known ruler and his existence is confirmed by independent Indian chroniclers writing Ramayana. This talk about everything and everyone being imported is a dangerous and siniter myth being spread by western colonialists and their local lackey agents such as ICES and CPA.

Excellent article Nalaka. It’s just so easy for us to blame everyone else for our ills when the sad fact is that we took a country that was considered, along with Burma, to have the best prospects off all Asian nations at the time of our independence, and made it a dysfunctional democracy with little or no accountability and heaps of civic apathy. I always laugh when our leaders, very proudly, talk about the time that Lee Kuan Yew came to Sri Lanka and proclaimed that he wanted to model Singapore on us. These idiots should be ashamed that they’re still clinging on to that source of embarrassment!
