It is said that the government is waging a humanitarian war to liberate the Vanni and free the Tamils from the clutches of the Tigers and that they are not waging a war against the Tamils. But if the above report dscribes the correct position, then there is something wrong with the words and deeds.

I think that one of the NGO's can take-up the matter with His Excellency the President who might not be aware of the ground situation or with the Supreme Court for due redress.

Ladies & Gents GOSL has waged a focussed effort in crushing the LTTE terrorists which no prior government had a commitment to. Either you are for it or against it; there is no neutral line. There is no negotiating with terrorists and the LTTE was never the voice of the Tamil in Sri Lanka, they were only concerned about their own "power" agenda.

i really wish that these people end up 'doing government'. it's no fun. you get hundred people coming from terrorist infested territory and you want the security forces to give them a pat on the back and send them along wherever they wish to go? have these people ever gone through any european/north american airport, i wonder. and if they have, have they kicked up a huge fuss over security regulations?

The humanitarian crisis is truly reaching appalling heights, but can we just sit back and continue to watch it deteriorate? Isn't there something that civil society organisations can collectively do with regards to this, to put pressure on the GoSL? Unfortunately, the masses are clearly divided on this matter with the majority of the Sinhalese steadfastly believing in and concentrating solely on the GoSL's military advancement whereas the majority Tamils including the Diaspora Tamils strongly and blindly continue to support the LTTE. Whatever is left of the neutral voices is overpowered and trampled down to null.
