The police are now transformed into the 'gestapo' of the old Nazi Regime. They murder purported "underworld members" in cold blood on flimsy pretexts. This appears to be approved by the judiciary, as the police say that there was a judicial inquiry into every killing. In other countries there are bodies of independent persons appointed to inquire into such incidents. This situation is approved by the rulers who are amassing 'merit' not only in buddhist temples, but also in hindu shrines here and abroad. Noone can even whisper a word against any ruling politician. Thugs like Mervin Silva who can assault/insult political opponents are encouraged. When late Lasantha's wife wrote to the IGP to obtain a statement from Keheliya Rambukwella who had said "We know who the murderers are..........................." the police took no action. The police spokesman said "It is only a statement.................................." ! ! Sri Lanka is now a Police State, or even a Terrorist State.
